Titans v Eels - Round 9, 2025

Full-time: The Titans have defended their way to a crucial 16-point victory over the Eels at Cbus Super Stadium. Four first-half tries saw Gold Coast jump out to a 20-4 half-time lead and they turned up the defensive intensity after the break. The Eels had plenty of opportunities throughout the final 15 minutes to hit back, but they were only able to cross for one second-half try. Titans 26 - Eels 10.

68th minute: We're off to the Bunker to review a possible Eels try. Rachael Pearson produced another perfect bomb, with Mahalia Murphy chasing through to catch the ball and ground it. The referee, however, suspected Murphy was offside. Video evidence is unclear and the Bunker has stuck with the on-field decision of no try. Titans 26 - Eels 10.

62nd minute: The Titans have produced an outstanding tackle to deny Kennedy Cherrington. The Eels forward looked destined to score, however was somehow held up and was unable to get the ball to the ground. Parramatta earned a repeat set on the following play, but they turned it over later in the set and the Titans maintain their lead. Titans 26 - Eels 10.

57th minute: Momentum has swung back to the Eels, but untimely errors continue to cruel their chances. The Titans turned the ball over inside their own half, only for Mahalia Murphy to knock it on a few plays later.

Some injury concerns for both teams, with Titans hooker Lily-Rose Kolc limping from the field and heading straight up the tunnel with what looks to be an ankle injury. Georgia Hale shifts to hooker as a result. Parramatta youngster Ryvrr-Lee Alo was slow to get up after a heavy tackle and was taken from the field moments later. Titans 26 - Eels 10.

54th minute: We have another Titans Captain's Challenge, but this one will be unsuccessful. Taliah Fuimaono was ruled to have leapt from inside the field of play to catch a bomb before being tackle in the in-goal. Replays confirmed this was the case and the Eels have a repeat set. Titans 26 - Eels 10.

Ryvrr-Lee Alo Try

50th minute: The Eels have hit back, with Ryvrr-Lee Alo charging over to close the gap. Martha Mataele earned a penalty to put her side on the attack and they asked plenty of questions of the Titans defence throughout the set. Alo eventually used her strength to overpower the Gold Coast defenders and score her first NRLW try.

In a double blow for the Titans, centre Sarina Masaga has been ruled out for the remainder of the match after failing her HIA. Titans 26 - Eels 10

Phoenix-Raine Hippi 2nd Try

41st minute: It's a perfect start for the Titans, with Georgia Hale and Lauren Brown combining to lay the foundation for the opening points of the second half. Phoenix-Raine Hippi did the rest, beating the cover defence before running the ball around to make the conversion a simple one. Titans 26 - Eels 4.

Kick-off: We are back underway, with the Eels desperate to score first to remain in this contest. The Titans largely controlled the first half, but a late try to Parramatta gave the visitors plenty of confidence leading into the break. The challenge now is to keep building as they look to mount a comeback.

Meanwhile, Gold Coast centre Sarina Masaga is off the field for an HIA. Titans 20 - Eels 4.

Martha Mataele Try

Half-time: A big moment on the stroke of half-time, with Martha Mataele charging over Georgia Grey to score in the corner. A penalty had put the Eels on the attack in the final minute of the half and the Titans initially held firm. Parramatta regathered a Rachael Pearson kick before shifting wide to Mataele for the try. The Titans had dominated the opening half, but Parramatta now have a sniff at the break. Titans 20 - Eels 4.

30th minute: We have a Captain's Challenge after Megan Pakulis spilled the ball in the first tackle off the kick off. The referee ruled knock on, but the interchange forward was convinced it was a strip. The Bunker agrees and the Titans receive a penalty. Titans 20 - Eels 0.

Taliah Fuimaono Try

28th minute: Taliah Fuimaono has her first try of the season after some big Titans defence forced an Eels error. Martha Mataele attempted an offload under heavy pressure, the ball hit the deck, Fuimaono picked it up and ran 30 metres to score untouched. Titans 20 - Eels 0.

26th minute: A big defensive stand by the hosts to repel the Eels. Rachael Pearson produced a 40-30 to put her side on the attack, but they were unable to break down the Titans defence. Tess McWilliams came closest but she was held up over the line on the last tackle. Titans 14 - Eels 0.

Shaylee Bent Try

22nd minute: Concerning signs for Parramatta, with the Titans stretching the Eels defensive line on both flanks. The visitors scrambled desperately, but Shaylee Bent took advantage of a scrambling defence to throw a dummy and dart over from dummy half. Titans 14 - Eels 0.

Phoenix-Raine Hippi Try

15th minute: The Titans have taken control throughout the past five minutes, with the Eels turning the ball over before Taliah Fuimaono forced a line dropout. Young gun Phoenix-Raine Hippi did the rest, the winger darting from dummy half and outmuscling Abbi Church on the way to the try-line. Titans 8 - Eels 0.

Georgia Grey Try

9th minute: It was Jasmine Solia who made the error, but the Titans forward made up for it by getting possession back for her team with a one-on-one strip. This time the Titans took advantage and Georgia Grey crossed in the corner for her eighth try of the season. Titans 4 - Eels 0.

7th minute: It's been an arm wrestle through the opening exchanges, with the Titans generating the first attacking opportunity courtesy of a Lauren Brown bomb. The kick drew an error, but the hosts were unable to capitalise on the chance and turned the ball over amid some staunch Eels defence. Titans 0 - Eels 0.

Kick-off: Parramatta have kicked off and the final game of Round 9 is underway. The Titans can solidify their place inside the top six with a win, while the Eels can leapfrog their opponents with a victory on the road. Titans 0 - Eels 0.

Stat Attack

  • The Titans have won two of their last three games against the Eels.
  • Eels halfback Rachael Pearson requires nine points to break her own club point scoring record.
  • Titans winger Georgia Grey has scored six tries in her last six games.
  • Eels prop Elsie Albert has scored two tries in three games against the Titans.
  • The Titans have won only one of their past five games at Cbus Super Stadium.

Canada Ravens star Megan Pakulis is promoted to the bench from the reserves. No further changes in Sunday's final team update, with Kelsey Parkin the 18th player.

Eels: Parramatta have made one late change on game day, with Ryvrr-Lee Alo coming into the side and Taneka Todhunter reverting to 18th player. Rosie Beckett's return from a concussion has been put on hold for another week, while Yasmine Baker will also wait another week before completing her recovery from a knee injury after dropping out of the extended squad in Saturday's team update.

It's just the second time the Broncos have held their opponents to 0 and the first since a 20-0 win over the Roosters in 2019. Canterbury battled hard in the first half but they were not able to hang with their opponents after the break. Broncos 44 - Bulldogs 0.

68th minute: Brisbane thought they had scored their 10th try of the afternoon after Lauren Dam burst through a gap. The forward, however, spilled the ball while attempting to ground it and the Bunker has ruled No Try. Broncos 44 - Bulldogs 0.

66th minute: Make that four for Tamika Upton, with the fullback rewarded for being on the spot in a supporting role. Ali Brigginshaw produced an excellent bomb, which was superbly caught by Julia Robinson. The centre held the ball above her head and produced an excellent offload for her fullback. Broncos 44 - Bulldogs 0.

Gayle Broughton Try

63rd minute: Gayle Broughton laid on a try earlier in the day and she has a four-pointer of her own now. The five-eighth was at dummy half, looked up, saw no markers and darted to the line. Broncos 40 - Bulldogs 0.

Keilee Joseph Try

55th minute: Keilee Joseph came close in the first half but there's no denying her this time. The Broncos lock burst through the line before linking up with Tamika Upton. Upton drew the fullback, sent the ball back to Joseph, who raced away to score. Broncos 36 - Bulldogs 0.

Tamika Upton 3rd Try

50th minute: The Broncos have gone the length of the field from the kick off and Tamika Upton has a third. Halfback Ali Brigginshaw had plenty of time and space to assess her options against a retreating defensive line before linking up with Upton. The fullback burst through the line to complete her hat-trick. Broncos 30 - Bulldogs 0.

Kerri Johnson Try

48th minute: Brisbane are piling on the points now. Gayle Broughton threw a stunning 30-metre cut out pass to winger Kerri Johnson, who produced some excellent footwork of her own to get to the outside and sprint to the tryline. Broncos 26 - Bulldogs 0.

Tamika Upton 2nd Try

45th minute: Tamika Upton has stepped her way through the defensive line to score her second of the afternoon. The try came after the Broncos had absorbed plenty of pressure defending their line before a penalty handed the hosts a chance to attack. Upton ensured they capitalised with some dazzling footwork. Broncos 22 - Bulldogs 0.

Julia Robinson Try

38th minute: Brisbane have started the second as they did the first, with the hosts enjoying more success down the right edge. Ali Brigginshaw dummied inside to Tamika Upton before passing right to Julia Robinson, who broke a couple of tackles on her way to the try line. Broncos 16 - Bulldogs 0.

Kick-off: We are back for the second half, with Canterbury looking to strike first as they attempt to reel the Broncos in. Scott Prince has tasked his side with flexing their muscle and kicking clear after the break. Brisbane have been dealt a blow, with Destiny Brill ruled out of the clash with a calf injury.

In a slightly unusual development, a couple of Bulldogs players have changed jumpers after their numbers fell off in the opening half. Alexis Tauaneai and Ebony Prior are the affected players and will wear No.19 and 25 respectively. Broncos 12 - Bulldogs 0.

Half-time: Brisbane have successfully defended their own try-line in the final minute of the opening period to maintain their 12-point lead at the break. The Broncos were largely in control throughout the first half and will be a little disappointed to have only scored two tries but they're thrilled with the defensive focus. Canterbury's defence was also exceptional, however they need to improve their attack after the break to pull off a comeback. Broncos 12 - Bulldogs 0.

34th minute: Lots of concern now for Destiny Brill, with the Brisbane forward helped from the field with an apparent ankle injury. The Broncos just had another chance to extend their lead but Mele Hufanga spilled the ball and relieved the pressure on Canterbury. Broncos 12 - Bulldogs 0.

Tamika Upton Try

25th minute: The Broncos have turned defence into attack, with the hosts absorbing pressure on their own line before producing a long-range try to extend their lead. Halfback Ali Brigginshaw sent prop Chelsea Lenarduzzi through a gap, with the veteran then drawing the fullback to send Tamika Upton over for the second try of the match. Broncos 12 - Bulldogs 0

20th minute: Brisbane's quest for a second try continues to be stifled by staunch Canterbury goal-line defence. The Bulldogs are inviting the Broncos into attacking territory, but they're doing a superb job shutting their opponents down with some staunch defence. After forcing an error, they've now earned a penalty and the visitors have a chance to work into attacking field position. Broncos 6 - Bulldogs 0.

16th minute: Canterbury have absorbed plenty of pressure throughout the opening period of this contest but their defence so far has stood tall with the exception of the early blemish. Brisbane have had eight tackles inside the attacking 20-metre zone, but their latest opportunity came to an abrupt end when Keilee Joseph spilled the ball. Broncos 6 - Bulldogs 0.

10th minute: We are off to the Bunker with Keilee Joseph attempting to burrow her way over amid heavy contact from the desperate Bulldogs defence. Joseph extended her arm as she fell to the ground, with Canterbury stripping the ball in the process. The Brisbane forward was unable to gather the loose ball and the Bulldogs receive a seven-tackle set. Broncos 6 - Bulldogs 0.

Hayley Maddick Try

4th minute: It's a perfect start for the Broncos, with Tamika Upton orchestrating a right-edge raid and Hayley Maddick finishing off the play in the corner. The hosts have started the match on the front foot, dominating the opening exchanges and rolling down the field. Broncos 6 - Bulldogs 0.

Kick-off: Tayla Preston has kicked things off at Totally Workwear Stadium, with Canterbury eager to keep their top-six hopes alive with an upset win over the Broncos. Brisbane are eager to solidify their place in the top two and hoping to keep the pressure on the Roosters at the top of the table. Broncos 0 - Bulldogs 0

Late Mail

Broncos: Just one change for the Broncos, with Reegan Hicks added to the bench to replace the suspended Shalom Sauaso. Lilly-Ann White scored a first-half double for Newcastle, with Georgia Ravics crossing the stripe for the hosts to cut the deficit to four.
